I am a designer in San Francisco, CA, but my creativity comes from the basketball courts of Northeast Ohio where I discovered athletic sneakers and self expression on the court. I remember observing the best players and taking particular interest in how they presented themselves through clothing, posture, and speech. I trained myself to observe the details, understand what people really want, and why those things fit with their particularly curated lifestyle.
This ability to connect with culture has stayed with me, and has helped me craft a sensitivity to brand perspective, color, materials, photography, and communications. I'm most excited when designing products that people use as self expression. This unique position as an industrial designer with passion to create fashion relevant pieces has allowed me to work with leading lifestyle brands like Shinola Detroit, Nixon, Electric Visual, Nike, Incase, The Art of Shaving, and Google. My work has been available at big department stores like Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Best Buy / Magnolia to premier boutiques like Opening Ceremony and Colette.
I'm not where I am now without great mentors at Priority Designs in Columbus, OH, Dewalt in Towson, MD, fuseproject in New York, NY, CincoDesign in Portland, OR, Nike in Portland, OR, or here at Astro Studios in San Francisco, CA. At each stop I've learned everything from tangible technical skills to overarching perspectives that help me better connect to culture and create relevant designs. Thank you.
